The application deadline to be part of the Millenium Marching Band in 2011 has been extended to December 13 in order to attract 15-20 additional brass instrumentalists, very much needed to balance out the percussion and wind instrumentalists.
What is it? Millenium Marching Band was formed for the Sydney Olympics in 2000. It is a highly contemporary marching band and lots of fun. The music performed this year was from “Happy Feet” , in 2009 it was from the musical “Wicked”. Participants rehearse one weekend per month and perform at the Anzac Day parade and in the Schools Spectacular each year. Car pooling with the two other students at RBSC who are involved, makes it easier for participants to get to rehearsals. Also – the music performed is not overly difficult so applicants don’t have to audition to gain a place. So check it out and get involved in something different for 2011!
