The Arts Unit music team is seeking applications for the 2012 Schools Spectacular Orchestra and Stage Band and the 2013 Instrumental Music Ensembles.
Schools Spectacular Music Ensembles
The Schools Spectacular Orchestra and Stage Band comprises of highly skilled and talented musicians from across NSW. Students wishing to apply for these ensembles should be advanced on their instrument, as a suggestion students should be AMEB 6th grade or above (or equivalent) to apply for Schools Spectacular ensembles.
Students who nominate for both Schools Spectacular and the 2013 NSW Public Schools Instrumental Ensembles will be able to combine their auditions.
If you are applying for Schools Spectacular and 2013 ensembles, you are only required to complete one application form.
2013 Instrumental Music Ensembles
In 2013 The Arts Unit instrumental music team will offer:
2 Symphonic Wind Bands
o NSW Public Schools Symphonic Wind Ensemble (SWE)
o NSW Public Schools Symphonic Wind Orchestra (SWO)
2 Big Bands
o NSW Public Schools Stage Band
o NSW Public Schools Jazz Orchestra
Symphony Orchestra
String Sinfonia
Students wishing to apply for these ensembles should be 3rd grade AMEB or above (or equivalent).
General Information
Auditions will be held at Lewisham Public School on Friday 14 September – Monday 17 September. Students will be notified of their audition time by Friday 24 August. Each audition will last approximately 10 minutes.
Auditions are only offered to NSW Public Schools students.
Auditions requirements will be published on The Arts Unit website on Wednesday 1 August. Students will be required to prepare a set of scales, a piece of their own choice, a set excerpt and will be given sight-reading.
ALL STUDENTS are required to complete the Online Endorsement form as well as the online application form. Failure to return this from will result in withdrawal from the application process.
