Feedback from Murray Jackson:
This was our seventh Soiree and the final one for 2014. It was also our largest by some margin, with forty five performers compared with a more typical attendance of around fifteen, requiring us to decamp the larger space of the Multi-Media room.
It was fantastic to see so many of our instrumentalists and vocalists returning for another opportunity to perform in an informal and supportive setting and great to see the increasing confidence and self assuredness that comes with the experience. Several of the students performed for the first time and it was humbling to see their courage and willingness to tackle what can be an overwhelming occasion.
Speaking of premiers; I was particularly pleased to welcome so many of our great percussion students to a Soiree for the first time! I look forward to seeing them again, perhaps in a smaller setting, or even as soloists!
Thank you to the tutors who gave up their time to attend; Ali Foster, Angie Dean and Sean Windsor. Your support is greatly appreciated. Thanks also to the students who performed and the parents, family and friends whose attendance makes these evenings so special. I was also very grateful for the support of the audience throughout the entire proceedings, in spite of it being considerably longer than usual. Finally, it was lovely to welcome back Rose Bay alumna Isabella Antonievich, who did a fantastic job accompanying many of the performers on the night.
