There’s so much music going on now in the MEP, we need three evenings to showcase everything.
First up, Rose Bay Rocks, where all the rock bands get the chance to play two or three songs, with many of them now playing their own compositions. With 20 bands now, we had to split the event over two nights. While every band was fantastic, the audience was especially impressed by how polished the younger bands have become in such a short time.
For the End of Year concert the following week, again everyone who played was outstanding. But I hope that people who were there will agree that the String Ensemble deserves a special mention. With little more than a term in charge, our new conductor Andrea Ng had the group playing three complicated numbers to perfection, and we all look forward to seeing more of the strings in the new year.
Thanks to all our great young musicians, to our tutors and conductors, and to all the parents who helped out on the night. I’ll see you all in 2016 for what’s looking to be an even bigger and better MEP
