Concert Success

Thanks to our resourceful treasurer Andrew Grogan, we have also been certified by Service NSW so entry is via gold coin donation or you can redeem your unused Dine and Discover voucher (they expire on June 30^th) in exchange for 4 free soft drinks and entry.

Due to Covid restrictions there will be limitations on the number of tickets, with only one per student for the Rose Bay Rocks concert on June 9th and two tickets per student for the MEP concert on June 10th. Both concerts start at 6pm and will be at the School Hall.

This will be our first opportunity in 18 months to fundraise for the MEP so bring your gold coin donation and be prepared to enthusiastically support our raffle which will be held over the two nights. Prizes include a Bunnings voucher worth $200, a $50 Westfield voucher and a personally signed copy of Bill Granger’s immensely popular cookbook, Australian Food.

UPCOMING MID-YEAR CONCERTS

We’re delighted to be returning to face to face concerts. All our bands will perform in two concerts over two nights at the school.

All rock bands will perform at Rose Bay Rocks on Wednesday June 9th.

Junior concert band, junior stage band, senior concert band, senior stage band, Rose Vox, percussion ensemble, string ensemble, jazz ensemble and vocal ensemble will perform at our MEP mid-winter concert on Thursday June 10th.

Venue: School Hall

Time: 6pm

Entry by donation and fundraising raffle at the door though in keeping with current Department of Education Covid guidelines, the concerts will be ticketed and no food or drink can be sold on the night. Information on how to buy tickets will be sent out closer to the event.

New MEP members and a new initiative

We are on a drive to recruit new members for MEP so please tell your friends/children it’s not too late to join and encourage them to express interest with the EOI form on our website. And if you know anyone who is keen to join MEP but might not have any musical experience, can you please ask them to email Murray (murray.jackson5@det.nsw.edu.au)? We have an exciting initiative starting up next term to encourage and support budding musicians.

At last night’s P&C AGM, Andrew Grogan (treasurer), Erica Vorsay (secretary) and Anna McFarlane (chair) were returned to their roles on the subcommittee. If you want to get involved too, don’t despair. There are still plenty of opportunities. Come to our next MEP meeting at 7pm on 3^rd May (on Zoom until further notice) and meet the team and find out more.

Welcome to 2021

For continuing students, our Music Ensemble Program rehearsals start from February 8th. The rehearsal schedule will be the same as last year.

For new students, our information night will be Monday 15th, February. Please indicate your interest by filling out our Expression of Interest form.

Happy Holidays

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

I’m sure you have heard plenty about what an unusual and difficult year it has been.

All of which is true, but this is not to say that all of it was bad. 

There have been many positives to come out of this year and the performances you see below are a testament to that. 

The MEP would like to say a heartfelt thank you all of you for sticking it out and being there with us at the end. It’s been a tough year and we hope a singular one. It’s unlikely we will experience anything similar again, but we trust your teamwork, your spirit and the sense of purpose you exhibited these past months will continue into the future.

Have a great break and a happy and safe Christmas.

MEP end of year concerts

Our music ensembles will be performing for each other on Wednesday 2nd December and Thursday 3rd December. This will be a COVID-safe performance with appropriate social distancing on stage and in the audience, with the audience organised in year levels.

Due to COVID no parents are able to attend but the concerts will be filmed and shared with the parents via YouTube at some point in the future. For those parents picking up children, they should arrange to meet their children outside of school grounds after the concert.

Wednesday concert is on 5-7pm. Performing on the night (but not in this order) are Junior Concert Band, Junior Stage Band, String Ensemble, Senior Concert Band, Senior Stage Band, Percussion Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble

Thursday concert is on 4-6pm. All rock bands will be performing.
